Yesterday evening we had a lovely time with some old friends. We've known the dad for over 20 years, he was a mere teenager when we met and he became part of our family. He's now happily married with two scrummy boys of his own. But last year (and a bit before) we let life get in the way of our friendship, and we didn't see them for a year. And considering they only live an hour away, and M is Godfather to S and P, this was a shame. So we've made a resolution to make sure we meet up regularly. We spent a lovely day between Christmas and New Year, and as I've said, a lovely evening last night. And the date for our next together is in our diaries.
Earlier in the day I had lunch with another friend, again a date preset in diaries.
But its made me ponder on some other friendships I have, and how I can make more of an effort there. The trouble is we're all so busy, and have so much to try and fit in.....
For any of my friends reading this, this is not a nag, it's a note to me. Your friendship means a lot to me, and I'm just thinking about what I can do to invest some more time in it.
There's a very coy saying that friends are the family we chose for ourselves and I think its true. So I think what this means is that I'm going to be finding time in my diary, and trying to find time in yours too.......
